History

Harris County Fresh Water Supply District No. 58 (the “District”) is a political subdivision of the State of Texas created in 1964 by an order of the Harris County Commissioners Court. In 1976, the District was converted to a municipal utility district by an order of the Texas Water Rights Commission (now the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, or “TCEQ”) for the purposes of providing, operating, and maintaining facilities to produce, treat, and distribute potable water; and to collect and treat wastewater.

The rights, powers, privileges, authority, and functions of the District are established by the general laws of the State of Texas pertaining to municipal utility districts, and particularly Chapters 49 and 54, Texas Water Code, and Article XVI, Section 59 of the Texas Constitution. The District is subject to the continuing supervision of the TCEQ.

The District is located entirely within the extra-territorial jurisdiction of the City of Houston (the “City”) and approximately 26 miles northeast of downtown Houston. The District is located on the eastern shore of Lake Houston approximately 4 miles south of the intersection of FM 1960 and FM 2100, and approximately 7 miles north of US Highway 90.
